NEW PLOW TRUCK
A 1999 Chevy 7500 6-wheel dump truck and plow was purchased at the Palmyra Municipal Auction. This will be a good addition to our fleet as some of our other trucks are becoming quite old and are costly to repair. This truck is a heavier duty vehicle and will provide a longer life of equipment.

The Department of Public Works wears many hats in our village. Some of the regular annual duties are listed below. They are involved in many projects throughout the year. Some of these for the upcoming year are to replace the retaining wall located behind Through the Garden Gate Florist and at the base of the Municipal parking lot on Erie Street. They will have to provide a new drainage system to ensure that the new wall will not deteriorate. This will begin in the Spring of 2006. Throughout the Summer they survey the village roadways and determine which roads they need to repave.

SCHEDULED ANNNUAL DUTIES

Brush Pickup - This service begins in April and continues through October. Our staff picks up any brush that the residents put in front of their homes accept large limbs, the first week of every month.

Leaf Removal - This service is provided to our residents throughout the Fall season. Our staff will remove all leaf piles that are brought to the roadside for our residents.

WATER
The Department of Public Works personnel along with our contractors have completed the following projects to improve the quality and quantity of the drinking water available to our residents in the Village of Macedon.

Water meters are read and billed on a quarterly basis. Meters are read the last week of the month of the billing quarter. The next meter reading will be done in March.

LEAK DETECTION
We have conducted several leak detection investigations to locate areas in our water system that are losing water. We have been able to determine that there was a significant leak located on Southview Drive. We have repaired this problem and stopped the loss of water at this location. These investigations are on going.

SEWER
We are in the process of a major repair within our sewer plant. The digester, which is a large holding tank, has been completely dismantled and cleaned. This repair will be completed by the summer of 2006. As the plant is approximately 35 years old, there will be other ongoing projects to ensure its functionality.

Currently, two of our Department of Public Works employees are certified Sewer Plant Operators. We will be sending the other employees for their certification this Spring.
